Rapido OO Scale E1 0-6-0 Tank No.3 Ryde Southern Black Sunshine IOW Condition - DCC Ready

This is the Rapido OO Scale E1 0-6-0 Tank No.3 Ryde Southern Black Sunshine IOW Condition - DCC Ready Locomotive.

Following the success of theĀ ā€˜Terrier’, Stroudley provided theĀ London Brighton & South CoastĀ Railway with a dedicated passen-ger version – the ā€˜D’ 0-4-2T – inĀ 1873. A goods version appearedĀ the following year. This was theĀ ā€˜E’, later called ā€˜E1’.

They might have looked like a stretched version of the ā€˜Terrier’ but they carved out a niche as a strong and capable performer.

Built: 1874 (78 built)

How long did they last?Ā The last Isle of Wight example, No. 4 Wroxall, was withdrawn in October 1960 while the last ā€˜E1’ used on the main-land, No. 32694, was not condemned until July 1961.

Where did they work?Ā Through-out the LBSCR system, the Isle of Wight and Southampton docks.

Can I see one?Ā No. B110 is based at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway.

Here’s the specification of our ā€˜OO’ gauge model:

  • Designed from original works drawings and a wealth of photographic material
  • Isle of Wight condition

  • Marsh boiler and Drummond chimney
  • Plated over coal rails fitted
